assignment #5

The smurfvillage Júzcar will stay completely blue.

When the village in southern Spain was painted blue to suit the Smurfs, the intention was that it was going to be white again once the pr-trick for the blue little creatures was over. But on Sunday it was said that the village would remain blue.

The colour blue has shown itself to be good for the businesses in town, tourists have flocked too the village in the mountains a couple of miles from the the great touristtown of Marbella just because of the colour. That was when the idea of letting the village remain blue was brought up.

So, what to do about it? Well, vote about it. And that happened at Sunday.

According to David Fernández, the mayor of Júzcar, 184 votes had been counted. 141 of the votes were Yes-votes while 33 of them said No, four of the votes were invalid and six had chosen to leave a blank ballot. This is the numbers that the Spanish newspaper El mundo is reporting on their website.

So it looks like the pr-trick of painting the entire village blue, which the filmcompany Sony made in the beginning of June, for the launch of the 3D-movie "The smurfs", are going to be the everyday for the villagers of Júzcar.

But if all the blue are starting to feel like a big black eye they are, of course, aloud to a new election.

Assignment #3

The two turtles

Once upon a time two turtles were out on a walk, a big turtle and a small turtle. The big turtle was starting to get mad at the little one since she was a lot slower than he was and she kept on nagging on him all the time.

- Are we there yet? the little turtle asked. I'm tired!

- No! Keep on walking, we're in a hurry, the big turtle answered.

- Why are we in a hurry? the little turtle asked.

But the big turtle didn't answer and the little turtle sighed and was now falling behind.

-Are we there yet? the little turtle asked.

- NO! the big turtled screamed.

The little turtle was hurt by his scream and by being left behind all the time and now started to cry. She sat down at a stump beside the road and watched the big turtle go on without looking back.

The little turtle sat a long time on the stump crying and now it started to get dark. She got afraid of the darkness and was feeling more alone than ever. Then suddenly, out of the blue, the big turtle showed up with a wagon full of buns.

- Where have you been? the little turtle asked.

- I was in a hurry to get home before the buns were ready in the oven. But I'm here now to give you a ride on my wagon full of buns. You can eat as many as you like, the big turtle said.

The little turtle smiled at the big one and jumped up on to the wagon and took a bite into a bun, which was delicious. The big turtle took the little turtle home and they both forgot their fight. Instead they became the best of friends.

Assignment #2, edited edition.

The benefits of using ICT in school.

In todays society, and school, the technology is growing fast. Especially the use of computers has grown and is important in our search for information and most of all; communication. It is now up to us, active in school, to keep up with this development and that is why it is so important and useful to use ICT in school.

With the help of ICT you can, as a teacher, create versatile and fun tools for your pupils learning process. Versatile and fun is often associated with motivation and motivation is often connected with the performance in school. It is our duty and job to make sure our pupils have a good performance in school, so we should make use of the tools which is adapted for our pupils. With the help from interactive whiteboards and computers you can create a new level of you teaching which is appropriate for our pupils.

Maybe you think that your own knowledge in technology is not enough for using ICT in your teaching and that is why you are keeping away from it. First of all, you are able to learn! Secondly, in our curriculum it says that every pupil will gain the knowledge of using the modern technology as a tool in the search for knowledge, communication, creating and learning: kan använda modern teknik som ett verktyg för kunskapssökande, kommunikation, skapande och lärande (Lgr11, s. 14). That is why it is so important to re-consider if you are keeping the ICT out of your teaching.

As you can see it is not only important for our pupils and their learning to use ICT in school, it is also an essential part of your job as a teacher. The usage of ICT can be a significant way for you to supplement your teaching with. In todays technology it is teeming with useful programs for every lesson. Pupils who may have difficulties in school can use the computer to practise and get an other way of learning, which can be a great need for these children. The same is for pupils who may find it "too easy" and therefore get bored without extra exercises on the computers, which can be on a more appropriate level for these children.

The usage of ICT is a great advantage in school but of course all this technology cost a lot of money, and these days it is all about money. But after all of this above I do believe that you all now understand the benefits and importance of using ICT in school. It is not for our own sake we are upgrading school, it is for our children and pupils sake. Then it's worth to spend some money on it!

edited assignment #1

Dear Anton & Natasha!

This is Michail's teacher and I am writing you this letter since there is a little bit of turbulence around your son in school. He has always been the one who is very proper and have been working on very well in school. But lately he has been misbehaving and getting into trouble with other pupils at school. He is often involved in fights on the breaks and teases other pupils. That is not like him and it is troubling me. I have also noticed a drop in his schoolperformance, which is concerning to me since he is starting to fall behind. It feels like he doesn´t care about anything anymore. Have you noticed some difference in him at home?

I would be very glad if you could talk to Michail about what is going on and get his point of view of it. I have tried to speak to him but he won´t talk to me about it and I do believe this is something important to solve before this problem will grow. If you feel that you would like any help from school, please let us know. We can get in touch with the school-counselor if you and Michail want to.

If you have any speculations at all you are free to call me anytime!

Sincerely,

Hanna
